Starting Up
I am not a big blogger by any means- but the chance to show off the hard work of so many people as we move through this process of restarting LAPS is something I could not pass up.
When I swam, I had lots of highs and lows (as many athletes do) and struggled to see why we did all this work for a sport. After a long time, I walked away from swimming, unsure if I would be back. I slowly got back into swimming through coaching, proudly guiding kids aged 6-18 through their swimming careers and watching some amazing development and personal growth for all.
Now, some 8 years after I walked away from swimming, I am so proud to do the work LAPS is doing in connecting underserved kids to a sport which has given me so much. This work has connected me with numerous stakeholders and community members so passionate about growing swimming, and were just getting started!
Huge thanks to all of the support, your donations are already positively impacting the work we get to do in the Lowcountry. Through your financial support, we can hire top instructors, provide high quality equipment to all, and grow our network to include even more schools.
We’re just getting started, so stay tuned to see all of the exciting things we will accomplish!
