A graduate of the University of South Carolina law school, Bobby is an attorney working in Charleston. He was involved in competitive swimming in his youth, and became involved with LAPS because of his interest in ensuring the safety of youth in the community. Bobby is President of the Charleston County Bar Association, as well as a member of the Commercial Law League of America and the Rotary Club of Mt. Pleasant.

Joe Rainero

Joe obtained his Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech and his Master's of Business Administration at The Citadel.  He is now owner of NetTec NSI, an IT solutions company in Charleston. An avid long-time swimmer, Joe is a member of the US Masters Swimming program and was named an All-American Swimmer in 2016. He has also won multiple Swim Around Charleston Relays and has completed several open water swims.

Mark rutledge

Physical Therapy Specialist, Mt. Pleasant, SC

Mark Rutledge swam for the University of South Carolina in the mid-1980’s, achieving an All-American honorable mention in his senior year. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina College Of Medicine with his medical degree in 1990. Mark specializes in physical therapy and has over 30 years of experience in the field.

BASIR "BOSS" ROBERTSON

Assistant Aquatics Director, City of Charleston

A Charlestonian, “Boss” is the Assistant Aquatics Director for the City of Charleston. He has worked for the City of Charleston for over 25 years. Along with mentoring and supporting his staff, Boss has served as mentor to more than 10,000 children through his roles of lifeguard and swimming instructor.

 

Peggy Klimecki

Peggy has been an active member in the fitness community for more than 15 years. Her involvement began when her two daughters started with the Mount Pleasant Track Club (MPTC) in 2002, where she served on the board for MPTC for three years. From there, she began a rewarding career as a volunteer coach for both MPTC and then the Wando High School track and cross country teams, spanning 10 years.

More recently, Peggy has become involved with Tri It For Life (TIFL), a triathlon organization and community group that trains women for their first triathlons, as a long time volunteer and first-year board member.

Throughout her years serving, coaching, and volunteering in the fitness community, Peggy has always been a passionate advocate for the positive impacts that an active lifestyle can bring to a child’s life.
